Print LP EXPRESS labels on a thermal label printer (100×150)

LP EXPRESS, the parcel service of Lietuvos paštas, creates shipping labels as PDF files. Download them in a label-sized format (page size A6 in the self-service portal, 10×15 cm in the OpenCart module and the API) and set your printer to 100×150 mm, and each label prints full size on one thermal label, ready for a courier pickup or a drop-off at an LP EXPRESS parcel locker ("paštomatas").

Before you start

LP EXPRESS calls a shipping label a "lipdukas" (plural "lipdukai"). The self-service portal at lpexpress.lt, the Lietuvos paštas API and the official e-shop modules all deliver labels as PDF files. LP EXPRESS does not document a ZPL or EPL output, so every label goes through the printer driver.

Use direct thermal labels such as our 100×150 mm labels, 500 pcs or the eco labels, 1,000 pcs. "40 g" and "76 g" in the product names mean the core diameter in mm. Check that the core and roll diameter fit your printer before you order: most desktop printers take smaller cores, and 76 mm cores usually need an industrial printer, an adapter or an external roll holder.

Names below are from the Lithuanian version of the portal, with the English version's name in brackets.

1. Create your shipments with "Siųsti siuntą" (Send parcel), or import up to 100 at once with "Įkelti CSV bylą" (Import CSV file).
2. Complete the order in "Mano krepšelis" (My cart).
3. Under "Atsispausdinkite lipduką (-us)" (Print labels), choose a label layout and click "Atsisiųsti" (Download). The portal shows the page size of the PDF: "Lapas: A6" (Page size: A6) or "Lapas: A4" (Page size: A4).
4. For a thermal printer, download the labels with page size A6. A6 is 105×148 mm, close to a 100×150 mm label.

The portal offers three label layouts:

Forgot to print a label, or need it again? Open "Siuntimo istorija" (History) and open the shipment's card: the label PDF is under "Dokumentai" (Documents).

Set the printer to 100×150 mm

Without the right size in the driver, Windows sends an A4 page and the label comes out tiny or cut off. Set it once in Printing preferences:

• Zebra: in the ZDesigner driver, open the Page Setup tab, then Media Settings, and set 100 mm wide and 150 mm high. Under Print Options, set Printing mode to Thermal Direct.
• TSC: in the TSC Windows driver, open Page Setup, then Stock, click New…, and create a stock 100 mm wide and 150 mm high.
• Honeywell: set a 100×150 mm label in the printing preferences of the InterDriver Windows driver.

Calibrate the printer after loading a new roll, so it detects the label gaps. Each brand guide has the full steps: Zebra, TSC and Honeywell PC42E.

Print the PDF at the right size

1. Open the label PDF and choose Print. Select your label printer; the paper size should show 100×150 mm.
2. Check the page size of the PDF. If it is exactly 10×15 cm (100×150 mm), print at actual size (100 %).
3. For any other label-sized page, such as A6 (105×148 mm), choose Fit to page (some programs call it fit or shrink to printable area).
4. If the PDF is an A4 page, don't print it on a label: Fit to page would shrink the whole page, barcode included. Download the A6 page size instead, or the 10×15 cm format in OpenCart or the API.
5. Use portrait orientation, or let the program choose. Switch it only if the label prints sideways.
6. Print and scan one label before a batch.

Print labels from your webshop

Lietuvos paštas publishes official LP EXPRESS modules, now branded Unisend, for Shopify, WooCommerce, PrestaShop, Magento and OpenCart. They need a contract with Lietuvos paštas. To switch one on, open "Integracijos" (Integrations) in the self-service portal, choose the module and click "Pradėti naudoti" (Start using). • Shopify: the "Lietuvos Paštas" app by AB Lietuvos paštas, called Unisend in its manual. In the app, open Orders, select orders and click Create label, or select orders on Shopify's Orders page and choose Print › Unisend.
• WooCommerce: the Unisend plugin. Select orders and choose the bulk action "UNISEND Spausdinti lipdukus" (Print labels), then "Taikyti" (Apply).
• OpenCart: in the "UNISEND Shipping" module, the "Lipdukų parinktys" (Label options) setting offers 10×15 cm, A4 with one label per page, or A4 with the maximum number of labels.

The Shopify, WooCommerce, PrestaShop and Magento manuals don't describe a label size setting. Check the page size of the first PDF and print it as described above. Developers using the API pass a layout parameter (the documentation's examples use LAYOUT_10x15) and can set labelOrientation to PORTRAIT or LANDSCAPE.
