Print Matkahuolto labels on a thermal label printer (100×150)

Matkahuolto address cards ("osoitekortti") come as PDF files from the Paketit Yritysportaali business portal or from Matkahuolto's XML interface. The interface's default card is A5, too large for a thermal label printer. Get the 100×150 mm (10×15) card instead and set the same size in the printer driver, and the card prints full size with a barcode that scans.

Which address card size to choose

Matkahuolto's address card interface documents two sizes. A5 is the default. The 10×15 option returns a card of exactly 100×150 mm, which matches a standard thermal shipping label.

Set the print size in Paketit Yritysportaali

In the business portal, the address card print size ("osoitekorttien tulostuskoko") is a user-specific setting, like the portal language. Each user can update it in their own details.

1. Sign in to Paketit Yritysportaali.
2. Click your user ID in the top right-hand corner of the page to open the menu, then open "Omat tiedot" (Own details).
3. Find the address card print size and choose the 10×15 (100×150 mm) size if it is listed.

Load 100×150 mm labels

Use direct thermal labels, which need no ribbon, such as our 100×150 mm thermal labels, 500 pcs or the eco version, 1000 pcs. "40 g" and "76 g" in the names stand for the core diameter in mm, not the weight.

• Check the core. Desktop printers take small cores: 12.7 or 25.4 mm on the Zebra ZD220 and ZD230 (38.1 mm with adapters), up to 38 mm on the TSC DA210 and DA220, and up to 38.1 mm on the Honeywell PC42E. Our 500-label roll has a 40 mm core, which is not on these lists, so ask us which roll suits your printer. Rolls on 76 mm cores suit industrial printers such as the Zebra ZT231 or TSC MH241. Check the core and roll diameter against your printer's specification.
• Calibrate after loading so the printer learns the 150 mm label length. See your printer's calibration guide, for example ZD220/ZD230 calibration.

Set 100×150 mm in the printer driver

Windows has to know the label size, otherwise it sends an A4 page and the card comes out tiny or cut off.

• Zebra: in the ZDesigner driver, open Printing preferences, go to Page Setup › Media Settings and set 100 mm wide and 150 mm high. Under Print Options, set Printing mode to Thermal Direct.
• TSC: in the TSC Windows driver, open Printing preferences › Page Setup, click New under Stock and create a 100×150 mm stock.
• Honeywell: in InterDriver, set the label width and height to 100×150 mm in the printing preferences.

Create the shipment and print the address card

1. On the Lähetykset (Shipments) tab, choose "Luo lähtevä lähetys" (Create outgoing shipment), or "Luo paluulähetys" (Create return shipment) for a return.
2. Fill in the sender, recipient and shipment details, then choose the product, for example Lähellä-paketti for delivery to a pickup point or parcel locker ("pakettiautomaatti").
3. Finish with "Luo lähetys ja tulosta osoitekortti" (Create shipment and print address card).
4. Print the address card PDF on your label printer. If the PDF page is exactly 100×150 mm, print at actual size (100 %); with any other page size, choose fit to page. An A5 card is better switched to the 10×15 size than shrunk.
5. Print one card first and check it before you print a batch.

For many shipments, "Massakäsittely" (mass handling, enabled on request by Matkahuolto) creates shipments from a CSV file. Print their cards from the "Tulosta osoitekortit" (Print address cards) tab as PDF files of up to 150 shipments each.

Check that the barcode scans

When you drop parcels at a Matkahuolto parcel locker, you scan the barcode on the address card, so it has to scan cleanly. Test the first card with a barcode scanner or phone.

• Pale print: raise the darkness one step at a time in the driver and print again.
• Still not crisp: lower the print speed.
• Bars run together: lower the darkness again.

Web shop and shipping software

Matkahuolto doesn't publish its own Shopify or WooCommerce plugin. Its web shop integration page lists partners instead: Approosters for Shopify and Markup for WooCommerce, plus transport management systems such as nShift Delivery, nShift Ship and Shipit. Developers can use Matkahuolto's XML interface directly: it returns the address card as a PDF, as 100×150 mm with the document type 10X15 and as A5 by default.
