Newland HR52 Bonito Series Barcode Scanner (NLS-HR5280RT-S5)

The Newland HR52 Bonito is a robust 2D handheld scanner developed for fast, precise scanning at the point of sale and beyond. Its megapixel imager with soft white illumination and a clear cross-shaped laser aimer reads virtually all 1D and 2D barcodes in any condition – including QR codes, Data Matrix, PDF417 and DotCode on tobacco products – while Newland's Acuscan aiming technology captures exactly the code you aim at, even among other barcodes. IP54 sealing and 1.8 m drop resistance make it ready for daily use. The HR52 Bonito comes in three variants: the Retail Edition (RT), optimised for close-range scanning at the checkout; the Logistics Edition with a longer reading range; and the Duo with a near- and far-range imager. This version, NLS-HR5280RT-S5, is the corded USB kit – Retail Edition: it is supplied with a coiled USB cable (CBL030UA), ready to plug in and scan.

Key Features

• Snappy megapixel scanning – the megapixel imager reads virtually all 1D and 2D barcodes in any condition, including DotCode on tobacco products.
• Precise aiming with Acuscan – soft white illumination and a clear cross-shaped laser aimer make point-and-shoot scanning easy; one press of the trigger captures the right barcode, even when it is surrounded by other codes.
• Durable and easy to set up – IP54 sealing against dust and splashing water and 1.8 m drop resistance; Newland's EasySet tool configures the scanner and clones settings to other devices.
• Retail Edition (RT) – tuned for close-range scanning at the checkout: reads codes from just a few centimetres away (EAN-13 from 35 mm, QR from 20 mm) – ideal for product barcodes, coupons, loyalty cards and receipts.
• Dual interface: USB and RS-232 – the interface is determined by the cable; RS-232 requires a 5 V power supply (included with NLS-HR52-DUO-S8).
• 5-year warranty – the corded HR52 Bonito is backed by a 60-month warranty for worry-free daily use.

Ideal Applications

• Retail checkouts and POS – product barcodes, coupons, loyalty cards and QR codes
• Tobacco and convenience stores – DotCode on tobacco products
• Warehouses and logistics – goods receiving, picking and inventory
• Healthcare – labels on samples, medication and patient wristbands

Technical Specifications

Not sure which version you need? For a PC or POS with a USB port, the Retail Edition NLS-HR5280RT-S5 with coiled USB cable is the classic checkout choice – or the NLS-HR5280RT-SF if you also want the foldable smart stand for hands-free scanning. Need to scan both up close and from a distance? Choose the Duo: NLS-HR52-DUO-S5 with USB cable or NLS-HR52-DUO-S8 with RS-232 cable and power supply. To scan without a cable, choose a Bluetooth kit with charging and communication cradle: the NLS-HR5280RT-BT-C(U) (Retail Edition) for the checkout or the NLS-HR5280-BT-C(U) (Logistics Edition) with the longer reading range for the stockroom and warehouse.
