Zebra HC55 (WCMTB-H55D8BBK1-A6)

The Zebra HC55 is a pocketable Android mobile computer purpose-built for healthcare – for nurses, physicians, clinical support staff and non-clinical teams in hospitals, care homes and home healthcare. Its disinfectant-ready housing made of medical-grade plastics withstands constant cleaning, and a bright 6" Full HD+ touchscreen, a red emergency alert button, NFC and IP68 sealing fit into a slim 12.5 mm design. This version, WCMTB-H55D8BBK1-A6, adds 5G mobile data (Nano SIM + eSIM) and GPS for home care and staff moving between sites. Configuration: 8 GB RAM / 128 GB Flash, the SE4720 scan engine with patient-friendly white illumination and green aimer, a true hot-swap 3800 mAh battery with BLE beacon and a 5 MP front camera for video calls.

Key Features

• Designed for healthcare workers – Zebra's thinnest and lightest healthcare mobile computer, balanced to minimise hand fatigue, with contoured surfaces for a secure grip in any hand.
• Built for constant disinfecting – medical-grade plastics support 30+ approved wipes and disinfectants; the smooth housing and USB-C port plug minimise crevices where pathogens can accumulate.
• Emergency alert button – a dedicated red button calls a preset number or launches an app in duress situations, with an activation sequence that prevents false alarms.
• Patient-safe barcode capture – the SE4720 scan engine with white illumination and a green LED aimer is safe for use everywhere in the hospital; reads wristbands, medication vials, supplies and UDI barcodes on medical equipment, even when damaged or poorly printed.
• Bright 6" Full HD+ display – 1080 × 2160 pixels, 450 nits, Corning Gorilla Glass; works with the thin gloves worn by clinical staff.
• 5G, GPS and Wi-Fi 6E – 5G NR Sub-6 and Gigabit LTE, Nano SIM + eSIM, VoLTE, private 5G support and dual-band GNSS, plus tri-band Wi-Fi 6E as standard.
• True hot swap and front camera – the device keeps working for up to 60 seconds while you change the 3800 mAh battery (no missed calls or lost data); 5 MP front camera for telehealth video calls.
• Clear voice and secure messaging – noise-cancelling microphones, dual speakers and HD Voice; optional Workcloud PTT and Enterprise Voice turn the device into a two-way radio or PBX handset.
• Future-proof Android – Qualcomm 5430 hex-core processor, Android with GMS upgradeable to Android 16, LifeGuard security updates and Device Tracker to find lost devices, even when switched off.

Ideal Applications

• Nurses and physicians: medication administration (BCMA), specimen collection and positive patient identification
• Clinical communication: push-to-talk, PBX calls and secure, auditable text messaging
• Wound documentation and telehealth consultations with the built-in cameras
• Pharmacy, laboratory and hospital supply chain: UDI capture, charge capture and inventory
• Non-clinical teams: facilities management, patient transport, food services, engineering and security
• Care homes, outpatient centres and home healthcare

Technical Specifications

The HC55 belongs to Zebra's HC2X/HC5X healthcare family – one set of accessories (cradles, batteries, carrying clip, hand strap) fits all four models. Working on-site only? The Zebra HC50 is the more affordable Wi-Fi-only sister model. On a tighter budget? The Zebra HC25 offers the same disinfectant-ready healthcare design. For general (non-healthcare) use, the Zebra TC27 is built on the same platform. Compare all models in our Handheld Terminals collection, or contact our team for volume pricing, staging and MDM set-up.
